Over the last few years, the concept of EVERYTHING FLOWS has been recurrent, like a whisper, or a mantra I started repeating over and over. A sudden loss...everything flows. The end of a manifestation of love...everything flows. A deep sorrow...everything flows. When applied to something with a negative connotation, it brought hope back. When related to what I saw as positive, it taught me appreciation for that moment. I love its sound in Italian, TUTTO SCORRE, in Spanish, TODO FLUYE. It must be the reason I could spend hours watching waves or clouds, teachers in this field. It makes me feel, for once, at peace, with my eyes following the rhythmical movement of water or the ever-changing shapes in the sky. Following a rather drastic change of life, I felt like the kind of journey I was about to undertake would be very different from the ones that brought me far and away in the past. This would be a sort of return. I found connections between a past I knew very little about, my current situation and possibly the future that is somehow mapping itself out. I started looking for this endless flow in my photos, and the project PANTA RHEI began taking shape. It is by no means completed, rather the opposite. Maybe this is a dot, or a chapter, or simply a breath. Something that, through photography, I have been trying to visualise and make sense of.
What are memories, if not bitter sweet reminders of the transience of time, and silent invites to grasp the nature of every moment we get to fully experience?
Everything flows, everything changes, and the ability to embrace the constant transformation of our inner scape and what we call reality is part of our journey, one that doesn’t require to travel far, not always, but rather to dive deep down those places of shadows we often would rather avoid.
In this kaleidoscope of fleeting dots of time and space, beauty, love, but also sorrow, and pain, are often difficult to define, they continuously morph into dreams and magical shapes, they draw imaginary maps of boundless visions and soundless words, they write stories with threads of light.
